Chapter Fifty-Three

In the '40s Columbia included "comic strip" promotional items in their theatrical serial pressbooks for theatre owners to use in local newspapers. Some were even drawn by the original comic strip illustrators.

Brenda Starr (1945) Artist unknown.

Chick Carter (1946) Artist unknown.

The Sea Hound (1947) Art by H. C. Kiefer.

Brick Bradford (1947) Art reminiscent of Bradford artist Clarence Gray.

Congo Bill (1948) Art likely by DC's John Daly.

Tex Granger (1948) Artist unknown.

Superman (1948) Art by Wayne Boring.

Batman (1949) Art seems to be by DC Batman artists.
